Bereavement Support Volunteers
We have a team of Bereavement Support Volunteers who have been trained to give you support in the challenges you may be facing following the death of someone close to you.
Our Bereavement Support Volunteers will provide emotional and practical support to you either face to face or by telephone.
The support will be offered on average for up to 12 weeks and can be wide ranging, responding to your individual needs. This can include offering a listening ear, providing information on the grief process, signposting to other organisations/services, helping build up your social network, assisting in practical issues e.g. completing forms, budgeting, support to attend groups etc
How to access the service
We can only match our Bereavement Support Volunteers with you once you have contacted us and carried out a telephone assessment.
Although we welcome requests for information from concerned professionals, relatives and friends.
How long does the support last?
The sessions with the Bereavement Support Volunteer will normally last an hour although this may vary.
The support will last up to 12 weeks and there will be opportunities to review your support needs and decide if you wish to access any other of our services e.g. counselling or groups.
